Information We Collect & Why

To continue our research, improve AI technology, provide, secure, and improve our Services, fulfill obligations, and reach legitimate goals, we may need to collect, receive, and retain information, including personal data. This data helps us render our Services, fulfill legal obligations, and process transactions and requests.

Users of our website and Services may need to provide personal data, such as name, title, company, email address, location, phone number, payment information, account and website activity, IP addresses, and cookie identifiers. We implement the minimization principle, processing only necessary data, and use pseudonymization and anonymization to ensure safety.

Purpose of Data Collection

The primary purposes of collecting and processing this data are:

• Consent: In some cases, Gramatins processes personal data based on the consent you expressly grant to it at the time it collects such data (which you may withdraw at any time after giving it, as described in this policy).
• Contractual Necessity: Gramatins processes personal data as a matter of contractual necessity, meaning that we need to provide the Service.
• Enhancing Accuracy: To provide more relevant results tailored to user needs.
• Improving AI Models: To refine and improve the underlying AI algorithms for better performance.

Usage Data

To provide additional features, personalize, monitor, and improve our Services, we may collect usage data. This includes information about devices used to access Services, such as IP addresses, browser types, device types, visited web pages, and device identifiers, small, anonymized snippets of text you have flagged for review, your actions while using our Services.

When you use Gramatins, we collect the following information:

• The date and time of your usage.
• The length of the processed text.
• The language of the input text (excluding the text itself).
• The duration of processing.
• A randomly generated ID assigned to the input text.
• If you uninstall, we also collect the number of times the add-on was used and the URL of the page where it was last used.
• An anonymously generated internal ID for error rules whenever you accept or ignore correction suggestions. If you ignore a suggestion, we store the underlined text fragment marked as incorrect, along with 15 characters to its left and right, to track and prevent similar errors in the future.
• In rare cases of internal software errors, an anonymized record of the error may be stored for up to 14 days to help identify and fix the issue.
• To enhance processing speed, we temporarily store checked records and detected errors in main memory (not on permanent storage) for up to 15 minutes on our servers. This storage excludes IP addresses or any information that could identify an individual.

Data Compliance

All personal data is processed in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and this privacy policy is provided under Article 13 of the Regulation.

Data Sharing

We do not share data with third parties unless our Services or a feature requires third-party technology. In case we need to share any data, we use pseudonymization to ensure third parties do not receive sensitive or personal data. We do not send any data outside of the EU.

Data Safety

All data is securely stored on our servers at the Latvia State Radio and Television Center in Riga, Latvia. We implement technical and organizational measures to protect data, but no data transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

Data Retention

Data retention depends on users' privacy policies, legitimate aims, and specific purposes. Data not required for scientific research, AI improvement, or Service provision will be deleted for security purposes. Users can request data deletion.
